Spotted next to the N42 (near Zottegem) in Belgium. This mog (misused as advertising vehicle) seem to be a 404 with a lot of modifications. But I think it lost his terrain capabilities. I think this construction isn’t flexible anymore. See for your self.

Thomas.... well looks like the LF-8 Fire mog has a veryyyyy simular dash with hords buttons and stuff galore... here is a pic I was just sent of an LF-8 Dash.
as to the idiot light on my rig...Along with this pic and other BBboard members, folk from here and mogmail folk I have solved the mystery... sorta.. Some doosy of ideas on what this light might be and why it was activated came about.
From their suggestions I jiggled around the nuclear waste door adjare sensor :-D along with the passenger ejection seat activation sensor; like you cant tell thats been activated :-p. I also jiggled the back up light switch and its wires... which I didn't even know it had, and while doing that found one of the PTO switch wires laying loose disconnected. I tucked it out of the way.
Either the Jiggling or the tuck away has turned off the Amber light. Case closed for now. I suspect it was the hot wire from the PTO switch was making contact to a ground.
Hereby the pix from my slip escapade. Remember that these pix have been
taken after three days of rain. But it is clear to see that my right
wheel was blokked, which in turn could tell me that the diff is probably
not the cause. But i can only guess at this moment because i still
didn't find the time to start to work on my 404.
Maybe this weekend, maybe not, but next week i can begin with the
repairs for sure.

Ok.... if the Sqeaky wheels gets the grease, what kicks out the Grease.... too muc silence?
Went 4 wheeling this weekend. On the drive home I had gear oil I assume come out of the center hub on the driver rear tire. Pics below.
Wheeling was very Mudy... Lots of water, nothing seemed to get as high as the breathers water wise though, but maybe it did. When I looked front axle breather seemed to never have gone underwater; maybe rear did? I'll check further. I checked brake resevoir. It seemd to have normal amount.

Subject: Unimog accident
Hi guys,
Got involved in a huge accident last week.
While passing a parked car (green BMW) another car (white Mazda) suddenly crashed into my mog.
Then the driver of a van(VW LT) pushed a bicycle (and cycler) between his van and the back of my Unimog.
Unfortunately it was not real, but part of a practise of the Firebrigade, ambulance and rescue teams.
The Firemen discovered that it's very hard to lift an Unimog wheel when you lift the chassis!!!

ok.... what is the "Inspection Hole" listed here in the last paragraph of the text but not labled in the pictures? I'm guessing one of the holes serves a dual purpose but I dont want to assume if at all possible.

Here's an overview of some of the special tools for a 404. With a little
imagination, you might be able to figure out what each tool is for. On the
other hand, I could also just translate the descriptions from German... ;-)

Subject: Last year...
Hi eveybody!
This is a picture from last year's edition of
"Kättilstorpsträffen" here in Sweden, close to my
hometown "Skövde". In front of the mog is my mom, my
best friend and his father, and me.
This is the exact type of vehicle I want, I currently
have one of these (it's mine showing here first) and
if someone wants to trade or buy mine, I'm all ears...
Anyway, I am willing to buy myself a Mog within a year
from now. I have no problem travelling in Europe to
get it home, and I want one in reasonable stand. No
need for military authenticity, not at all. It has to
be in good running stand, with little or no rust. I
plan to compete with it in the swedish trial cup, so
modifications like discbrakes, powersteering, whinch,
rollbar and lightened bodywork is mandatory and in
planning stages already! Can anyone of you hook me up
with a vehicle?! Holland, Belgum, Germany, Switzerland
etc etc, all these are within my reach (althoug it
will take som planning, it's a long trip).

Subject: Re: Re: Last year...
Hi all!
Yes, sorry if the previous mail was a bit clogged, I
mean that I have a Volvo Laplander that is up for
sale, and I might want to trade it for a Mog. That was
the message in short... :)
To answer your questions;
I've seen the laplander up for sale in the US and in
the UK to, and they've been very expensive. Mine is in
a fairly good stand, I'm as I write compiling a page
with very recent pictures of it and all the stuff I'll
be sending along in the deal (including 2 gearboxes, 1
engine, 1 complete clutch assembly etc..).
Yes the laplander is street legal in sweden. In sweden
we have rules that says that if a vehicle is older
than 30 years, it's considered "obsolete" and
therefore obides by other laws than newer vehicles.
The most obvious changes is that you do no longer have
to pay tax for the vehicle, and it only has to be
checked by the "Bilprovningen" (eg. TUV, MoT) every 2
years. Mine is approved for road use till summer 2004.
I'll post a link to the internet based add I'm
compiling when it's done.
I thank you all for the tips on whom to call and to
get info from. At the moment I do not have a telephone
so I won't be able to call the persons listed, I only
have access to the internet, hence mail is preffered
method of contact for me.
If you know anyone interested in buying the vehicle,
you may contact me. I can arrange for transport
anywhere within Sweden.
By adding a picture of a Unimog, I hope that I'll not
be charged for straying too far from the subject of
the list, which is "mog404pix". :) (The vehicle in the
images attached are not a 404 but a 406... I figured
"close enoug" :) )
Thankyou,
Tomas "The Count" Monsen , Sweden

Hi Tomas,
I gather you have the Walp in the picture? I like those a lot! Last
year on the military show in Beltring (War and Peace show)
they were selling Laplanders and they looked even beter (a bit bigger
and heavier engine).
You might try to contact Eric vd Kerkhof in Holland (+31.6.55363367).
He's got several Mogs standing and might be willing to
trade in your Volvo.
I have bought 4 Unimogs from him in total and am very
happy with what I got.
My first one (radiotruck) had an engine transplant to 2.5 liter
(petrol) and was sold to the US where it's still running. The
second one (flatbed) is my explorer vehicle in South Africa. The third one
(radiobox) is in the process being transformed into a camper (also has the 2.5
liter build in). and the fourth (flatbed) might be up for sale. Not sure yet.
That one needs a lot of work though (looks, technical pretty good).
Anyway, contact him. He might be able to hook you up
on a good truck.
