Subject: 404 with a crane ( & 420SEL for sale)
Hi list - attached is an interesting picture sent to me by a British Mog
owner - it's a 404 with a hard-cab fitted, and a crane on the back which is
powered by a Honda auxiliary engine.
( Non-mog - I know there are many Dutch, Belgian and other mainland-Europe
based moggers here - if anybody is interested in a Mercedes-Benz 420SEL, in
Brussels or London, have a look at this:

Thanks for the bandwidth - )

Subject: 404 3 Door Doka
Hello Fellow Mog enthusiasts.
I have had my 404 DOKA for about a month now and wanted to share a couple pictures in order to try to identify what it is. It's a 3 door Dopple Kabine with a bench seat in the rear with a small padded seat/table at the left side rear and a folding table between the rear and front seats. Interestingly enough this truck was converted from a standard M180 engine to a OM617 non turbo :-( However, I cannot tell if the bellhousing was changed it's mounted nearly straight up rather than at an angle. It was also modified for Desert use by twin 200L tanks and XS 12.5x20 sand tires. As well as having the heater yanked out (ouch very chilly here in the Northeastern USA). I haven't had to do too much to it yet other than some brake work, maintenance etc. Soon I will need to get a GPS as the top speed only registers 70KMH and it must be higher than that. I also need to do some insulating as the noise in the large cabin is unbearable. Has anyone ever seen a vehicle like this ? I heard that it was a Postal truck.

Subject: Cyclone filters
Hi all,
Especially for the members of the Dutch Mog404 list, a picture of the filters that I recently bought at Eric vd Kerkhof. Although not original cyclone filters, they work the same and were originally build for the IFA trucks.

Subject: hardtops - noisy? (&pic sizes)
Greetings list & Thomas - re pic sizes: your comments noted, and welcome.
Even if you browse this list on the www, it's the same effect - you have to
download the pic file to see it. Seeing as we have had virus problems in the
past, I also read this one only on the www, and I don't like getting yahoo's
spam about the X10 camera every time.
Now back to hard-tops - these are two pics of a scrap mog I bought in Co.
Donegal, Ireland on Sunday. The main reason I bought it is that it has a pto
winch fitted at the rear of the chassis ;-)
You will see that it has a home-made steel hardtop fitted to what was
originally a 404 canvas-top cab. The workmanship was first class in it's
day, see too the one-sheet front window. The cab is now a bit too rusty to
save.
If anybody is interested in making an offer for any bits, except the winch,
I'll sell cheap - 2.8 engine and gearbox, wheels, axels etc. Basically I
only need to recover the cost of the recovery truck I used to get it home,
UK & Europe delivery possible if you really need something.
I'll be putting a few more pics up on my web pages in the next week or so.

Subject: Pics of a OM617A install home brew style
These pics are from a new friend in Germany; Dirk Burggraaf. I dont have
much information yet on the install itself. He made all his own mounts and
is now working on the install of the OM617A to the tranny.

Subject: Additional pics + Rotocaps was:Re: Pics of a OM617A install
Hi Jeepn Mogger,
here some additional pictures of the engine support.
The installation job is done, now i am working on
the valves and valve-seats.
When I went to the Unimog-meeting at Zeeland I found
the compression was low on two cylinders, and now it
seems the rotocaps did not function well.
They are pretty worn out after 214tkm.
They should rotate the outlet valves,
for the turbo-version both outlet and inlet valves.
This "vernuftiges" system helps to eliminate hotspots
at the valve seats, and its placed underneath the
valve spring.

These pictures tell a story of unloading my Mog off a trailer in NY and its
return to the same spot via a Tow truck. The mog made it 6 miles. I
returned home as i had arrived, on a bus.
The interesting pix are the ones taken at Fantasy Acres of which Unimogs East is a subsidiary.
