April 12th, 2001 - Klondike Bluffs, Salt Valley and Arches, Moab, Utah, USA
On this day, we drove to the Klondike bluffs, then through Salt Valley, and on into Arches National Park.
Attendees were Bob and Colleen Ragain, Kent Drummond, Bob, Sandy and Wiley Newsome, and Ron DePugh.
No one can accuse Rob of not coming prepared..
The road we found starts off of route 191, and heads east into the valley where the Klondike Bluffs are.
There are several places along that trail where you can see dinosaur tracks in the rock.
We finally arrived at the Klondike Bluffs.
Most of the rest of this trip was just sight seeing. Click on the small pictures to see the large one.
There is a very deep canyon at the Klondike Bluffs.
There are many beautiful rock formations in the Salt Valley.
We took hikes to several of the arches.
Another arch.
Some rock formations.
More rock formations.
An arch.
More arches.
The Triple Arch.
Another arch.
And one more arch.
Rock formations.
We took a hike to Delicate Arch.
And found some other arches to hike under.
When we got back to the parking lot, we found another Unimog there.
It is a very nice U1300 Expedition.
Well outfitted for a long trip.
We decided to take a group photo.
And about the time we started taking the photos, the owners of the white Expedition showed up. It turned out that they were on a world tour with their Unimog, and just happened to be in Moab at the time of the Easter Jeep Safari/Mogs @ Moab.
After a nice bit of tale swapping, we headed down the road toward camp..
The sunset was lighting up the cliffs..
..and making for more beautiful lighting on the rocks.
These fins had great light and shadow on them.
After we got back to town, we had a great dinner at Eddie McStiff's.
