Sunday, April 16th, 2000 - Moab Rim Trail, Moab, Utah, USA
Trip report:
On Sunday, April 16th, Kai chose my favorite trail, the Moab Rim Trail...
We had 12 trucks, all Unimogs except one.

Bill C's U1300.
Bill C's 411 with Alan at the helm.

Kent's 404.1 Hardcab Swiss.
Dan's 404.1 Crewcab.
Bill Caid tackles the Z turn.
The Colorado River in the background appears to be running uphill, but actually, the rock shelf
we are on matches the tilt of the rock layers across the canyon. The river is flat here...
Kent tops out on the Z turn. Notice the big grin on his face.
This was Kent's first trip to the Moab area with his Mog..
Alan in the 411 climbed the Z-turn steps with ease.
The Unimogs all gathered on the top of a hill...
for the lunch spot.
The view from the lunch spot.
After lunch, we drove up the canyon, and took a hike up to the petroglyhs.

I thought these were unusual petroglyphs, since they had large numbers of repeating patterns.
The canyons...
We headed back down the trail. Fortunately, this year, I managed to
keep all four wheels on the ground. Alan had a bit of a thrill when the little 411
almost rolled near the bottom of the trail. Alan's quick reactions saved the day,
when he tromped on the gas to keep the Mog upright.
On the way back into Moab, Rob had a nice little visit from one
of Moab's finest, and netted a very rare item: a speeding ticket in a Unimog.
After knocking off the trail dust in camp,
we all went out for dinner at Eddie McStiffs. They had
a hard time finding space for all of us until we re-engineered the
seating in the dining room. We all had a great time.
